Texas Hemp & THC Products: Ban Stopped (For Now)

On September 4, 2025, Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick announced on X (Twitter) that the Texas Senate has adjourned without passing HB 6 and HB 309.
These bills would have banned hemp and THC products across Texas. But since the Senate adjourned, the ban will not move forward at this time.

What This Means
Hemp and THC products like gummies, flower, and tinctures remain legal in Texas.
The proposed hemp ban is on hold, but it could come back in a future session.
The vape ban (SB 2024) is still active and in full effect — so some vape products are no longer available.
Quick Recap
Bill | What It Tried To Do | Status |
HB 6 & 309 | Ban hemp and THC products statewide | ❌ Did not pass (Senate adjourned Sept 4, 2025) |
SB 2024 | Ban many vape products (cannabinoid vapes, certain designs, imports from China) | ✅ In effect Sept 1, 2025 |
