What’s Happening With Hemp in Congress Right Now (And What It Means for Texas)

Hey everyone, Rey here from Melting Pot. I wanted to take a moment to address something that’s been floating around online the last few days about the future of hemp in the U.S.

You may have seen posts or headlines talking about a potential ban on hemp products. So I want to explain what’s actually going on — clearly, calmly, and directly — because transparency is something we’ve always stood on here.

Recently, the U.S. Senate passed a funding bill, and somewhere along the way, extra language was added in that would limit hemp products to no more than 0.4mg of THC per container. If something like that went into effect, it would impact products like THCa flower, Delta-8, Delta-9 edibles, and a lot of the items many people across Texas use for relief and wellness.

But here’s the most important thing I want you to hear from me:

Nothing has changed in Texas right now.Our stores are open.Everything we carry is still legal under current state and federal law.We are operating exactly the same as we have been.

The hemp industry supports a lot of good people — farmers, small business owners, employees, veterans, and everyday Texans who’ve found real relief through hemp. So yes, this conversation matters. But there is also movement happening to fix this.

Senator Rand Paul has already introduced an amendment to remove that language from the bill before anything becomes final. So there is still a very real opportunity to protect hemp access across the country — including here at home.

If you’d like to add your voice, it takes less than a minute to send a message to our Texas lawmakers:

This goes straight to the representatives who make these decisions. Every person who reaches out helps.
